Guido Harari

Music photographer and journalist

About Me

I started out in the early Seventies as a music photographer and journalist, also exploring reportage, fashion, advertising, corporate photography and the graphic design of his books.

Over the years I've produced record covers for such artists as Kate Bush, David Crosby, Bob Dylan, B.B. King, Ute Lemper, Paul McCartney, Lou Reed, Simple Minds and Frank Zappa. In Italy I have collaborated with all major stars, including Claudio Baglioni, Andrea Bocelli, Paolo Conte, Pino Daniele, Fabrizio De André, Mia Martini, Gianna Nannini, Luciano Pavarotti, PFM, Vasco Rossi, and Maestro Riccardo Muti and La Scala Philharmonic Orchestra.

I have also curated the big multimedia Fabrizio De André exhibition for Palazzo Ducale, in Genoa, and Art Kane. Visionary for Galleria civica, in Modena.

His work has been the subject of numerous exhibitions: a huge retrospective show, called “Wall Of Sound”, was exhibited in 2016 at the Rockheim Museum in Norway.

I have published many books such as “The Beat Goes On” (with Fernanda Pivano, 2004), “Vasco!” (2006), “Fabrizio De André. Una goccia di splendore” (2007), “Fabrizio De André & PFM. Evaporati in una nuvola rock” (with Franz Di Cioccio, 2008), “Mia Martini. L’ultima occasione per vivere” (with Menico Caroli, 2009), “Gaber. L'illogica utopia” (2010), “Tom Waits” (2013), “Pier Paolo Pasolini. Bestemmia” (2015), “The Kate Inside” with my photographs of Kate Bush (2016), “Wall Of Sound” (2018), “Fabrizio De André. Sguardi randagi” (2018).

In 2011 I have opened, in Alba, Italy, the city where I've been living for many years now, my own photographic gallery (Wall Of Sound Gallery) and publishing company for limited edition books and catalogues (Wall Of Sound Editions), both totally focused on music imagery.
