The Monterey Jazz Festival marked its 60th edition with an impressive programme, featuring 500 artists and over 130 concerts spread over eight stages during the third weekend of September.

The stellar line up of musicians that graced the Monterey County Fairgrounds included Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea, Jimmy Heath, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Brad Mehldau & Chris Thile, Joe Lovano, Regina Carter, Linda May Han Oh, Branford Marsalis, Joshua Redman, Gerald Clayton, Tia Fuller, Ingrid Jensen, Kenny Barron, Pedrito Martinez, and many others.

This photo diary of the performances that took place from 15 to 17 September 2017 features some of the highlights of this year's edition of one of the world's best, and longest consecutively running, jazz festivals. Its first edition, organized by San Francisco jazz radio broadcaster Jimmy Lyons, was held in October 1958.
